We were commissioned by Bracknell Forest Borough Council in connection with obtaining LE credits 1-5 for a BREEAM assessment following the BREEAM guidance for non-domestic buildings (BRE 2011). An extended phase 1 habitat survey of the proposed development site and grounds was undertaken ensuring all aspects of ecological and protected species issues were covered. The removal of an oak tree could not be avoided, however the subsequent ecological enhancements recommended for the site were incorrpoated into the development providing a good number of credits to achieve a high BREEAM rating. In conclusion a total of seven credits was awarded for this development and the ecology of the site was be enhanced with the creation of a wild flower meadow, provision of a bat tube in the new extension and a swift box fitted on the new exterior wall. Timings and recommended working methods were adhered to ensuring no impacts on protected species on site.
